Lock Out - Tag Out Recommendations

What is Lock Out-Tag Out?

OSHA mandated Lock Out-Tag Out procedures are designed to ensure that dangerous powered machinery is safely taken offline, and not able to be restarted before the completion of any maintenance work. Lock Out – Tag Out procedures require that power sources be isolated, locked and tagged with the identification of the individual who locked and tagged the equipment. The key to the locking device is retained by this individual to prevent accidental start-up while maintenance is conducted and to guarantee that they are the only person who can reverse the procedure to put equipment back on line after work is completed.
